What are cookies?

'Cookies' are small text files that are stored by your browser on your computer’s hard drive, mobile phone or other device you use to access websites. These files allow the IPA to improve the website experience and provide more relevant content to you.

What does the IPA use cookies for?

The cookies we use fall into three main categories:

  1. Required for site functionality:
We use three Microsoft cookies which are essential to enable our site to function. Without these, our site would be unable to support services we provide. They are required for essential functionality, such as:
    - Making our shopping basket and checkout work
    - Determining if you are logged in or not
  2. Required for improved user experience:
We use cookies from Google Analytics and Hotjar to provide us with website analytics and measurement - for example; how often people visit our site and which pages they look at and so on. Hotjar also lets the IPA track how users interact with our website (including mouse movements and clicks but not keyed in information), so we can review and improve the website user experience.

We have no means of tracking your surfing behaviour on other websites before or after you visit this IPA site.
